Our Mission:
A healthy island community aware of the STD problem, prepared to act for a change while caring for people living with HIV.
Description/Duties/Purpose of Office:
HIV/AIDS & STD Services are provided primarily through the Communicable Disease Control Unit. For providing the full continuum of care, the program partners with many other units and sections of the Ministry of Health. The program partners other governmental, semi-governmental, and non-governmental agencies in developing National Strategic Plan and in bringing greater awareness of the available services to the entire population of Palau.
The duties of these programs are to ensure that Prevention, Control, and Care services are:
- Accessible to all residents of Palau
- Services are of highest quality possible with available resources
- Efforts to improve and update the level of care is maintained
- The people affected, at risk groups, or individuals have the opportunity to participate in the development of policies and strategies that affect their care.

Available Services:
• Free and Confidential Testing for HIV and all other STD’s
• Free Counseling, Referral, and Partner Notification and Investigation
• HIV 101 for Palau – Presentation is conducted in many different settings
• Free Preventive Supplies: Condoms (male & female), Lubricants, and Dental Dams
• Free Brochures and other information on specific STD’s as well as HIV
• Copies of the National HIV/AIDS & STD Strategic Plan for Palau is available for review
• Health Information Resource Center (HIRC) for HIV/AIDS and STD is open for the public to access above mentioned supplies and information.
• HIRC office is an alternate site for counseling and testing by arrangement. Tel. 488-1757
