Injuries are the third leading cause of death for Palauans.

Below are some of the available statistics taken from the Office of Data and Statistics, Ministry of Health.

Intentional Injury Deaths        = 45 (48%)
Unintentional Injury Deaths    = 48 (52%)
Total Injury Deaths            = 93
Intentional Injury Death Breakdown : (n=45)
Suicide = 21
Undetermined = 15
Homicide = 9
Unintentional Injuries Death Breakdown : (n=48)
Drowning = 20
Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) = 16

But injury deaths are only part of the picture. For those who survive, the injury causes temporary pain and inconvenience, but for some, the injury leads to disability, chronic pain, and a profound change in lifestyle.   Look at some of the statistics on injuries in Palau.
