Division of Parks and Recreation was created in 1981 to conduct, organize and promote local, regional and international sports competitions. One of the main goals is to develop and maintain sports facilities and recreational activities for the Republic of Palau and to assist whenever possible, organizations, associations and institutions involved in sports and recreation.

It was in 1988 when Palau hosted its first Micro-Games that the leadership noted the importance of building seven (7) new major sports facilities. After four (4) years of these facilities existence, RPPL 6-26 was promulgated and adopted by the Ministry of Community and Cultural Affairs to assess a minimal user's fee to subsidize the cost of utilities depending on the type and duration of and/or institutions who wished to use these facilities.

Meyuns Swimming Pool: 25m with six(6) lanes and a toddler pool. Lights available for night use.

Meyuns Softball/Little League Field: Press box, 1st and 3rd dug outs, 200 spectators benches and 300 ft. with 10 ft. height outfield fence.

PCC Track and Field: VIP stand, 300 seating capacity, 400m- lanes of artificial rubberized surface.

Palau National Gymnasium: 500 seating capacity, indoor wooden floor, six(6) basketball boards, two (2) of which are epoxy glasses and an indoor electrical scoreboard.

Asahi Field and Stadium: 1,000 seating capacity, two(2) 7' x 15' x 10' dugouts, two(2) regulation sizes bullpen. Left field- 330 ft., right field-304ft. and center field- 390 f. with 10 ft. cyclone fence.

Palau High School Gymnasium: This indoor facility accommodates the basketball and volleyball activities. It is a multi-purpose facility, utlitized by Palau High School students during their physical education classes.

Bethlehem: Tropical huts for women's local produce sales, Christmas programs for schools and community organizations. (No fixed lightings).

Airai (Lawn) Tennis Courts: Two (2) playing courts, one (1) practice court with a well equipped wind-breaker screen for novice players. Lights and bathrooms are also available.

Yelch Baseball Field: 300 ft. x 4 ft. height fence with 200 seating capacity. Press box and two(2) full dugout and a batting/pitching cage.
